Other events this season include the Alumni Banquet and the Drexel Open, which is to take place on May 8th and 9th. More details will be provided in the next newsletter.

For the first time in five years, Drexel Sailing fielded a women's team for the competitive MAISA Women's Fall Championships hosted at ODU. The Nittany Lion Open 2009

October 24, 2008

Nittany Lion Open
State College, Pennsylvania

2009's Nittany Lion Open was a regatta destined for greatness. Jason Sinclair, Erin MacCausland, Tyler Drown, and Stephen Ciccariello met on Friday evening to begin a wonderful adventure to the very depths of Central Pennsylvania. After hours of driving through interstate, toll road, and back road through this fine commonwealth we arrived at our host's apartment in State College.

Kings Point Dighny Open

Last weekend Drexel sent sailors to two regattas, the Nittany Lion open hosted by Pennsylvania State University and the Kings Point Dinghy Open hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point). The academy is situated at the former Walter P. Chrysler Estate in Kings Point, Long Island, the New York suburb which was F. Scott Fitzgerald's inspiration for "West Egg" in The Great Gatsby. At Kings Point, Drexel was up against #8 ranked Navy, #10 ranked Hobart, #19 ranked Old Dominion, and other top teams in intercollegiate sailing.
